Is School's Out! free for parents?

Yes. Always free for parents. No credit card, no paywall. We may eventually charge camps for Featured placement — never families.

How do you pick which camps to list?

Every camp is manually reviewed. We check the website, confirm the ages and location, and only list operators running real programs in the neighborhoods we cover.

Does School's Out! take a cut of camp bookings?

No. We're a directory, not a broker. Parents book directly on the camp's website. Camp operators keep 100% of every booking.

Will my family data be shared?

No. Kid data stays on your device per our COPPA-aligned design. The only data we store on our server is the email you give us for closure reminders — and you can unsubscribe any time.

What if my kid's school isn't listed?

Use the city request form. Tell us the city (and your email) and we'll email you the moment we add your school or expand coverage.

The story

School’s Out! is built by Rasheid Scarlett, a Miami dad, together with his 8-year-old son Noah — publicly credited as product lead. It started with an everyday problem: finding out too late that school was closed, then scrambling for childcare.

Noah isn’t a PR detail: he tests features, weighs in on what’s fun, and keeps the product honest about who it’s really for — families. Every design decision runs through one question: does this actually help a rushed parent on a Tuesday morning?

The mission

That no Miami family gets blindsided by a day off school — and that when one comes, finding a trusted camp or activity for that day is easy.

How verification works

Every closure starts as pending. A human reviewer cross-references the school’s official communication (calendar PDF, office email, district website) before marking it verified. Only verified data is published — unverified data is excluded. It’s the same rule that governs our public dataset.
